BBL recovery: Can you sit after surgery?

BBL

Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs) are among the cosmetic procedures that have been growing the quickest worldwide. Patients embrace the natural-looking boost it offers by sculpting a rounder, fuller buttock shape with their own fat while reducing other parts of their bodies. But one of the most frequent questions following this procedure is, “Can I sit after a BBL?

The short answer is not immediately. Sitting improperly or too early could have a negative impact on your performance. In this blog, we will discuss all these concerns in detail.

Why is it Important to Sit After a BBL?

During a Brazilian Butt Lift, liposuction is used to remove fat from the back, thighs, and abdomen. After being refined, the fat is carefully injected into the buttocks to give them symmetry, form, and projection. The transplanted fat has to attach to a fresh blood supply in order to live. This is a complex process that takes weeks to complete.

Putting pressure on your buttocks or sitting too quickly can:

• Increase the chance of fat loss, or the death of fat cells.

• It causes a loss of shape and volume

• It causes asymmetry or abnormalities in the shape

• Severe swelling and pain

In other words, sitting too early may repair the careful procedure your surgeon has done.

Advice on How to Sit After a BBL

1. Use a BBL pillow

• A BBL cushion reduces strain from your buttocks while supporting your thighs.

• Take it with you wherever you go, whether to work, the automobile, and even on vacation.

• During the first several weeks, limit sitting time to 15 to 20 minutes at a time.

2. Sleep on your stomach or sides

After BBL, you can’t sleep on your back. Stay on your stomach or sleep on your side for at least four to six weeks. For help in maintaining your posture during the night, use body pillows.

3. Wear compression garments

Wearing a compression garment helps support your new form and minimize swelling. Don’t skip it. Additionally, it prevents you from mistakenly sitting or sleeping in an incorrect position.

4. Reduce the amount of time spent sitting

Avoid sitting for long periods of time, even with a BBL cushion. Spend no more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time sitting, particularly during the first two weeks. As your surgeon permits, you can then gradually extend your sitting duration.

Does Sitting Too Soon After BBL Have Any Effects?

If a patient mistakenly sits too quickly, they often become uncomfortable. Your BBL won’t often be destroyed by a single error, but repeated pressure throughout the first two to three weeks can:

• Destroy some of the fat cells.

• Reduce the volume

• Cause irregularities or asymmetry

•  An increase in the necessity for a second surgery or touch-up

If you make a mistake during surgery, don’t worry, but don’t do it again and inform your surgeon about it during the follow-up.

How Much Time Does It Take to Sit After a BBL?

In general, plastic surgeons advise the following schedule:

• Weeks 1–2: Totally no sitting

Do not sit directly on your buttocks after a BBL. Other options include sitting when necessary, sleeping on your stomach, or standing at desks. In order to preserve the fat grafts while you heal, you should only sleep on your side or stomach.

• Weeks 2-6

To relieve strain on your buttocks, you can sit with a BBL cushion, but only for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Try to avoid long vehicle journeys.

• After 6 weeks

Most patients may return to their regular sitting habits at this point since the fat cells have stabilized, though your surgeon may still recommend exercising caution. Generally, everyday activities, office jobs, and driving may return to normal.

Conclusion:

A BBL can be followed by sitting, but only with caution. Use a BBL cushion, stay away from long periods of sitting, and do what your surgeon advises.
