While proper post-operative care is essential after the surgery if you want best outcomes. In this blog we will discuss do’s and don’ts to follow after blepharoplasty surgery.

Do’s After Eyelid Surgery:

1. Follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully

One of the most important things you should do is follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully after surgery. Your surgeon guides you all things properly, how to clean your eyes, When or which to take medicine, when to rest and when to come for a check-up.

2. Use ice packs

After any facial surgery, swelling and bruising are common. To help manage these symptoms, apply an ice pack to your face during the first 2–3 days. For best results, use a soft cloth or ice gel pads. However, be careful not to apply ice directly to your skin. Instead, always wrap the ice in a cloth to avoid skin damage. By following this method, you will experience relief from discomfort. Additionally, continue applying the ice for 10–15 minutes at a time for optimal results.

3. Wear sunglasses

Your eyes and its surrounding is a sensitive part. To protect your eyes from UV rays and dust, wear sunglasses or use a cap to protect them from sunlight and dust. If you do not take care of all these things, dust can enter your eyes and irritate your surgery, which affects the healing of the wound.

4. Eat a healthy diet and stay hydrated

Eating a healthy diet and staying hydrated is an essential part of proper healing. To start with, include nutritious foods such as proteins, vitamins, green vegetables, and fruits in your daily diet. On the other hand, avoid eating junk food and oily food, as they can interfere with the healing process. In addition, it is very important to keep your body well-hydrated. For this reason, aim to drink 10-12 glasses of water each day. As a result, staying hydrated will help maintain your skin’s elasticity and flush out toxic substances. Ultimately, these healthy habits will contribute to a faster and smoother recovery.

5. Take rest and avoid screen

No matter what treatment you undergo, it is very important to give your body adequate rest and stay away from stress, as it can have a negative impact on the healing process. Following surgery, make sure to rest your eyes for at least one week. To achieve this, avoid exposure to TV screens and mobile devices, since their light can strain your eyes and potentially slow down recovery. In short, prioritizing rest and minimizing screen time will support a smoother and faster healing process.

6. Take medicine as prescribed by doctor

After surgical treatment, take your medicines at the proper time as prescribed by the doctor. These include eyedrops, antibiotics or infection-preventing medications that may relieve your pain or provide a comfort zone. Therefore, follow the instructions given by the doctor and never skip them so that you feel better. If you feel any side-effects then consult with your doctor.
